CV GALLERY EXHIBITS “EMERGE” IN ITS SECRET GALLERY SPACE
Highlighting contemporary art from the port, the show seeks to decentralize the art of Santiago, presenting a selection of contemporary artists from the Valparaíso region.
The richness and spontaneity of the works allow a glimpse of the sharp gaze of a generation that goes beyond the simple individual observation of the world that surrounds them, proceeding with deliberate audacity and exposing diverse scenarios, typical of their unprejudiced training.
The exhibiting creators are Ana Blanchard, Carolina Agüero, César González, Coti Dörr, Danila Ilabaca, Danny Reveco, Editorial PLO, Felipe Robles, Felipe Rubio, Gabriel Hopzafel, Javiera Ovalle, Joaquín Rodríguez, Joselyn Muñoz, José Pemjean, Juvenal Barría and Paula López Droguett.
In the selected works, one can observe contemporary discursivities and aesthetics that show certain problems and themes that border on the local, inserting themselves into the global. In this way, the artists lift works from what they call the edge, in other words "the region".
In this exercise “from the edge”, towards what they define as the center- "the capital", they make their artistic practices known and made visible, making their strength lie in the momentum, the conviction and the certainty that the territorial variables are not barriers, but opportunities.
“EMERGE Exhibition, in which together with Felipe Forteza we made a selection of contemporary artists from Valparaíso that I personally admire a lot, will present different views and questions; it will allow us to connect art with our territory”, said the co-curator of the exhibition Juvenal Barría.
For his part, Felipe Forteza indicates that “the show represents a great opportunity for regional artists to exhibit the works they have been working on during these harsh periods of pandemic and social crisis, reflecting on what these experiences have been and depicting them in their works"
