25 YEARS OF ARTEXARTE-ALFONSO AND LUZ CASTILLO’S FOUNDATION
On November 23 of this very particular 2020, ArtexArte-Fundación Alfonso y Luz Castillo reaches twenty-five years of activity.
This dream, which began to be outlined next to the Inmaculada Concepción Church - "La Redonda de Belgrano" -, where it housed shows of all artistic disciplines, later became the first space in Argentina dedicated exclusively to photography, video and new media.
It was a pioneer not only in choosing the specialties it would accompany, promote and stimulate, but also a pioneer in choosing its location, the Villa Crespo neighborhood, today turned into an artistic and cultural pole with a life of its own. There, a circuit was consolidated.
Virtually active today, betting as always on quality, the Foundation continues to work on its editorial line and project activities for when everything passes. Their exhibitions designed by prestigious invited curators will return, their doors will open again to receive that demanding public that enjoys their proposals, meetings, talks and workshops, and the ArtexArte Photography Award will also return.
This atypical year does not allow us to get together and celebrate as we like, but, by the time we can do it again, ArtexArte will present Historia de un Sueño (Story of a Dream), the book that runs through this quarter of a century of ArtexArte-Alfonso y Luz Castillo Fundación.
It is also worth mentioning that in 2020 the institution has been honored with the Gratia Artis award by the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes (National Academy of Fine Arts), which recognizes personalities and institutions that stand out for their support to the arts. It was awarded to the Foundation for being a mainstay in the development and dissemination of Argentine photography.
