CREATIVE TIME SUMMIT, THIS YEAR WITH THE EYES OVER MIAMI
Creative Time Summit eleventh edition -a Creative Time program for thinkers and producers related to art and politics-is on the horizon and this time with a novelty: it will take place from November 1st to November 3rd, for the first time in Miami, Florida.
Titled On Archipelagos and Other Imaginaries: Collective Strategies to Inhabit the World, this new edition of the meeting between intellectuals and artist proposes to take coalitions as a central theme, addressing it from the archipelagos - a set of islands that alludes to the connection that Miami has with the Caribbean, Central America and Latin America in its entirety -, to move on over discussions such as immigration, borders, neo-colonialism and gender issues, and the role that art and activism can play within these complex dilemmas. In order to organize the congress more pleasantly, the steering committee has decided to establish talks under different orientations: “Facing climate realities, reimagining a green future”, “Toward an intersectional justice”, “Resisting displacement and violence” and “On boundaries and a borderless future”.
Why Miami? “Fifty years after the upheavals of 1968, we continue to grapple with a host of pressing issues, from the ongoing legacies of colonialism to climate change and xenophobia. There’s no better place for this conversation than Miami, a home to so many incredible artists, activists, and thinkers. We couldn’t be prouder to host the summit here, or of the participants and the invaluable insights they’ll be bringing to bear on some of the most critical issues of our time”, explained Justine Ludwig, executive director of Creative Time.
The convocation will begin on November 1st with an opening party at the Pérez Art Museum in Miami. Next, on Friday 2nd at the Knight Concert Hall of the Adrienne Arsht Center will be held all the presentations corresponding to the main stage of the congress. Finally, on Saturday, November 3rd, Creative Time has organised workshops around Miami, on the one hand, and a series of outdoor movies in SoundScape Park, on the other.
