FROM NEW YORK TO PUNTA DEL ESTE: LILIANA PORTER´S AND ANA TISCORNIA'S NEW PLAY AT GALERÍA DEL PASEO
This afternoon at Galería del Paseo in Punta del Este (Uruguay), the gallery located in Manantiales neighborhood will screen THEM documentary record, a co-directed play by Liliana Porter and Ana Tiscornia. The play premiere had place a few weeks ago at The Kitchen (New York) theater, a stage that has seen some of the most important figures of the artistic avant-garde.
With original music by Sylvia Meyer and the visual record of Federico Lo Bianco, the work conceived by both artists –Porter and Tiscornia- explores the intersection of plastic arts, performance, music, and theater. THEM consists of a series of fragments in which minor situations occur in succession in an apparently unconnected order. Not exempt of humor, the scenes play recurrent themes of the "Porterian repertoire": namely, the simultaneity of the dissimilar, the concept of time and reality, and the proximity of the hilarious to the dramatic. It is a questioning of the conventions through which we perceive things, and an invitation to recreate narratives regardless of certainties.
The play has been performed in the theater by six Argentine actors -Javier Drolas, Sabrina Macchi, Juan Pablo Garaventa, Lucia Garcia Puente, Alejandro Vitello and Sergio Vitello- and a North American actor -Brian Linden-. In the audiovisual presentation that will take place in Galería del Paseo of Punta del Este, Liliana Porter and Ana Tiscornia will be present during the screening in addition to Sylvia Meyer and Federico Lo Bianco.
The screening will take place today at 8:00 p.m. at the headquarters of Galería del Paseo in 20002 Manantiales, Punta del Este.
