LANDMARKS PRESENTS NEW COMMISSIONED WORK BY COLOMBIAN ARTIST MONIKA BRAVO

A commission that began in 2010, An Interval of Time chronicles the evolution of the artist’s practice over the past decade and underscores her deepening interest in the interwovenness of metaphysical, spiritual and scientific inquiry. With this, Bravo becomes the first female Latinx artist to enter the Landmarks collection and her commission represents Landmarks’ third video installation.

Monika Bravo (b. 1964, in Bogota, Colombia) is a multi-disciplinary artist who currently resides in Miami. Her work ranges from moving images and interactive animations to photo-based objects and immersive sculptural environments. Bravo has exhibited her work internationally including at the Rubin Museum of Art; the 56th Venice Biennale representing the Vatican City-State at the Pavilion of the Holy See; The New Museum in New York; Museo Reina Sofia; Museo de Arts del Banco de la Republica; and the Museo de Arts Moderna Bogota.

Landmarks is the award-winning public art program of The University of Texas at Austin. Its collection of modern and contemporary art celebrates diverse perspectives, featuring commissioned projects alongside sculptures on long-term loan from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
