OPEN REGISTRATION FOR THE ART AWARD MARCOS AMARO 2019
The third edition of the Marcos Amaro Art Prize opens its inscriptions. Delivered by the Marcos Amaro Foundation (San Pablo, Brazil), the prize aims to promote contemporary artistic production by promoting the career of artists of medium career whose production is characterized by technical and narrative innovation.
The artist awarded in this third edition will be awarded with the sum of R $ 50,000 (which is equivalent to US $ 13,000 approximately). In addition, within the framework of the 16th SP-Arte edition, the selected artist will have the opportunity to develop a project for the sum of R $ 45,000 that will be exhibited at the Marcos Amaro Art Factory (Itu, São Paulo), in 2020. The project will be guided by curator Ricardo Resende and will subsequently be incorporated into the foundation's collection.
Registration
To compete, the artist must be represented by a participant gallery of SP-Arte 2019. The inscription can be done both by the artist or by the gallery that represents him/her until February 28th. The selection will be made by a jury constituted by Marcos Amaro Art Foundation
For the final decision of the winner, a physical evaluation of the works of the finalists will be made on April 3 rdat the opening of SP-Arte. For this, it is necessary that the stand of the gallery of each finalist exhibits at least one work of the artist on the day in question. The winner will be announced on April 4th during the event.
Marcos Amaro Art Award
The award ceremony was born in 2017, during the 13th edition of the International Art Festival of São Paulo, based on the need to enhance and give visibility to Brazilian and foreign artists. Ivan Grilo (Galería Casa Triángulo) and Brígida Baltar (Nara Roesler Gallery) were awarded in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
