PAZ ERRÁZURIZ IN THE FUNDACIÓN MAPFRE COLLECTIONS

By Álvaro de Benito

The international photography festival PHOTOEspaña proposes a program of exhibitions that evoke, both in concept and subject matter, a breadth and diversity that have led to its recognition for years. However, one of its most appreciated improvements has been the expansion of venues and cities, which allows for a wider and better offer. Within this policy, Fundación MAPFRE replicates this participation in its structure and does so, within the framework of the event, also with an exhibition on Paz Errázuriz (Santiago de Chile, Chile, 1944).

PAZ ERRÁZURIZ IN THE FUNDACIÓN MAPFRE COLLECTIONS

From the headquarters of its KBr Photography Center in Barcelona, this exhibition displays a wide selection of some of the 175 photographs acquired six years ago by Fundación MAPFRE for its collection, shortly after the first retrospective of the photographer in Spain, and which takes samples of some of her most renowned series since the seventies, Among them are Protestas (1988), La Manzana de Adán (1987) or El Circo (1984), and that draws a journey through her work in which denunciation and politics, specifically the Pinochet regime, has always played a preponderant role, distilling ethics and testimony of an era and a society.

Paz Errázuriz. Colecciones Fundación MAPFRE can be seen until September 15 at the KBr Photography Center, Avenida Litoral, 30, Barcelona, Spain.
