Rozana Montiel on the 16.Mostra Internazionale di Architettura - La Biennale di Venezia
The Mexican architect Rozana Montiel will participate in the 16th Mostra Internazionale di Architettura-La Biennale di Venezia, FREESPACE curated by Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara.
Rozana Montiel is the founder of the architectural firm based in Mexico, ROZANA MONTIEL ESTUDIO DE ARQUITECTURA which specializes in architectural design, social architecture and public space.
Among his last interventions, Fresnillo built in Zacatecas, Mexico (2017) creates a recreational and social integration among the inhabitants; Common-Unit built in San Pablo Xalpa, Mexico City (2016) and Cancha built in Veracruz, Mexico (2016) rehabilitated public spaces, working with the community and not only for the community through the implementation of various actions.
In a recent Architectural Review interview, Montiel said: "I think architecture has several roles, and one very important one is responsibility, when you approach a social project, you have to listen first, listen to people, listen to space" .
Upon finishing her degree in Architecture and Urban Planning at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, Montiel studied the Master's Degree in Theory and Criticism of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona.
Montiel has taught at various universities around the world. This year he opened the second semester of 2018 at the Columbia Graduate School of Architecture and currently teaches a workshop in collaboration with Dellekamp Architects at Cornell University.
