THE LIST OF THE PRE-SELECTED PROJECTS FOR THE PAVILION OF CHILE AT THE 58TH BIENNIAL OF VENICE IS KNOWN
The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage announced through an official statement on June 28 the shortlisted projects to represent Chile at the 58th Venice Biennial, which will be held from May 11th to November 24th, 2019.
There were 7 projects pre-selected. The combination of the artist Voluspa Jarpa and the Spanish curator Agustín Perez Rubio was the one who achieved the highest score. Among the special mentions can be seen artist Gonzalo Pedraza and curator William Fox duo project with a weight of 1.97.
Other selected projects were those of the Chilean artist living in Madrid: Patrick Hamilton (who has just opened his first solo at the Casado Santapau gallery in Madrid) with the Italian curator Marco Scotini.
Curator and critic Christian Viveros-Fauné is the curator of one of the favorite projects for the selection with the artist Jorge Tacla.
Remember that the jury of the curatorial contest for the Chilean pavilion consists of the following personalities: Ticio Escobar (Paraguay), Sharon Lerner (Peru), Luis Camnitzer (Uruguay), Maria de las Mercedes Valdés (Chile), Nury Gonzalez (Chile) , Valentina Montero Peña (Chile), Fernando Prats (Chile).
