The Museo de Arte de Lima Will Reopen After Renovation
The MALI will offer visitors more exhibition galleries, improved educational facilities and reception areas, as well as a new cafeteria, gift shop, library and, shortly, an auditorium. The museum will reopen with a commissioned installation by artist José Carlos Martinat and three exhibitions, including the public presentation of a collection of newly acquired drawings by Indigenist painter Camilo Blas and a major selection of pre-Columbian ceramics, along with Peruvian photographer Mario Testino’s celebrated Portraits exhibition.
This is the first stage of the complete redevelopment of the historic Palacio de la Exposición, the first such project to be undertaken by the museum in over half a century. The intervention will consolidate the Museo de Arte de Lima’s position as one of the leading museums in Latin America.
