The Museo de Arte de Ponce elects new Director of Development

The director and principal executive official of the Museo de Arte de Ponce, Agustín Arteaga, announced the election of Rafael E. Irizarry as director of development of the institution.

Irizarry is in charge of planning and implementing strategies that allow for a more active collaboration from society and from the world of business and philanthropy in the development of the institution, whose vocation of service is to bring to the country a more active artistic, cultural, and education program.

This Puerto Rican, who graduated from New York University in 1972, has an impressive professional career as financial assessor and analyst in the banking and investment industries, as well as in the field of corporate communication, marketing, publicity, and public relations. For the past two decades he collaborated at the Financial Services Incorporated of Puerto Rico firm as vice president of investments and financial assessor, and more recently as executive director of the division of business, marketing, and associates development. He possesses vast knowledge and sensibility for art, besides distinguishing himself throughout the years for his support of institutions that promote art and culture.

At the head of the Department of Development of the Museo de Arte de Ponce, Rafael Irizarry has the important task of restructuring and growing in his area in order to obtain diverse groups of members, from relatives, to corporations, to institutions. He also has to strengthen the relationships with private funds and federal and state entities that provide grants. “Rafael Irizarry’s vast experience will bring a new force to annual philanthropic events that the Museo de Arte de Ponce hosts, and it will expand the base of support of the institution.
