WINNERS OF THE PINTA GRANT FOR THE “ART CAREER TRANSFORMATION” PROGRAM
The Programme (ACT), founded by Francesca Bellini-Joseph, is an online platform that offers programmes focused on artistic careers. As part of its expansion, and in support of the Latin American artistic ecosystem, Pinta Art awarded three artists a grant to participate in the "Communicating Your Artistic Practice" program.
Getting it Across: Communicating Your Art Practice is an intensive training designed for professional artists who want to develop communication skills and work on how they present themselves and their works. The course provides artists with skills for networking, statement writing, residency/scholarship/grant applications, and general proposals of their body of work.
The artists selected by the Pinta curatorial team for the grant are:
Les Egusquiza (Visual Artist. Peru. Vigil Gonzales Gallery)
Her work connects painting and video between territories such as Lima, Amazonas and Cusco with the intention of expanding into more Peruvian communities. It considers it important to continue traveling and establishing dialogues between landscapes in order to find beauty in contemporary everyday life and its constant struggle to rescue the territory, history and sensitivity.
Esteban Peña Parga (Visual Artist. Colombia. Nueveochenta Gallery)
Colombian artist who currently lives and works in the United Kingdom. Graduated from the Universidad de los Andes as a Visual Artist in 2003 and a Colfuturo fellow. In 2013 he graduated with distinction from the Master of Fine Arts (MA Fine Art) at Central Saint Martins College in the city of London, England. Peña's artistic practice humorously points out various seemingly insignificant cultural, social or national habits that we engage in on a daily basis, but which, considered as a whole, say a lot about society and culture. Different concerns coexist in Peña's work related to the means of production and reproduction of the image, the exploration of the pictorial processes of color and the basic elements such as the point and line.
Pedro Tyler (Visual Artist. Chile. Isabel Aninat Chile Gallery, Del Paseo Gallery Peru/Uruguay, Sicardi Ayers Bacino Gallery Houston, Mario Mauroner Gallery Vienna)
Spatially transform everyday objects to open a conversation about the Irrational and Immaterial.
