_My Buenos Aires_

Discontent with the institutional art world, this show is part of a series that wishes to stage overlooked art centers. The Argentinian capital has a vital contemporary art scene with a complex history and rich modernist legacy. Artists are constantly collaborating to decipher the enigmatic “tentacular city.”

The exhibition is brought to La Maison Rouge by Paula Aisemberg, director of the foundation, and Albertine de Galbert, Latin American art curator. La Maison Rouge was founded by her father, Antoine de Galbert, with the purpose of promoting diversity within the contemporary art scene. The foundation allows independent curators to explore and experiment with current artists and practices through temporary exhibitions.

My Buenos Aires includes more than sixty artists, both established and new. The idea is “ to offer visitors to La Maison Rouge neither a portrait of the city nor a “who’s who” of Argentinian artists, but rather a sensation, an experience of the dynamics at work in the Argentine capital.” The repertoire, which comprises of installations, sculptures, videos and photography, intends to affirm and reconcile the cultural multiplicity of Buenos Aires.

The opening preview will be hosted Friday, June 19th from 6pm to 9pm, and will continue open through September 20th.
