GLOBAL CURATORIAL OPEN CALL AT ART JAMEEL
Art Jameel, an organization that supports artists and creative communities, launches an international open call for early career curators to submit exhibition proposals developed for Hayy Jameel’s museum space –Hayy Arts– in Jeddah for a May 2024 opening.
The open call is part of Hayy Jameel’s commitment to supporting curatorial research and development. Early career curators—individuals or collectives—are encouraged to share proposals that engage with the geography and history of Hayy Jameel’s location, particularly themes related to connections in and around the Red Sea—its connected geographies, histories, ecologies and the movement of people and ideas. The awarded curator will work alongside the Art Jameel team who will provide guidance and support on the exhibition’s development, production and design, logistics and installation.
Art Jameel is accepting proposals from curators working anywhere whose research and exhibition-making engage with the following topics: Jeddah/Hejaz histories; Red Sea ecologies; Red Sea histories of migration—the movement of people and ideas; Geographies connected to/ in relation with the Red Sea (e.g., Egypt, Saudi, Yemen, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Palestine, Jordan).
Award details
A curatorial fee of 37500 SAR (approximately 10000 USD).
Curator travel and accommodation feed to be covered by Art Jameel.
Artists fees, travel and accommodation to be covered by Art Jameel.
All exhibition costs related to producing, installing and promoting the exhibition to be covered by Art Jameel.
