Praxis Gallery moves to Chelsea
After more than twenty years in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, Praxis has moved its New York venue to the gallery district in Chelsea.
The new location at 541 West 25th Street features a main gallery, a second space as well as a project/video room. An inaugural show titled Death of a King by Shaun El C. Leonardo and curated by Trinidad Fombella, brought hundreds of visitors to the gallery in October. Praxis has planned a series of exciting solo and group exhibitions throughout 2011, and many of the shows will be traveling between the gallery’s various locations.
The relocation to a larger gallery in New York’s center for contemporary art strengthens the gallery’s commitment to promote talented Latin American artists working today. In the last few years Praxis has expanded its roster to include artists of Latin American descent who are also living and working in the United States and Europe, showing painting, drawing, video, site specific installations and performance art.
