DRAWINGS IN MOTION. DIEGO BEYRÓ AT CASA EQUIS
Casa Equis Buenos Aires presented the solo exhibition of its co-founder Diego Beyró. Dando Vueltas (Making Turns) is a series of drawings made with BIC pen on canvas.
The drawings are made from photos he took during his journey along the Portuguese route of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, which he made in 2021 from Lisbon to Finisterre, crossing Portugal and Spain. He covered 800km in 30 days.
Beyró's creation is influenced by his intimate life, his daily life and his travels, which represent his greatest source of inspiration. His works, manifested as series, have a self-referential and introspective approach. His works are based on photographs he takes that end up as drawings or paintings. In his most recent creations he explores the practice of walking, experiencing a meditative and explorative state.
From the hikes, images emerge that are reinterpreted and transformed as a way to reactivate the body and return to the step-by-step attunement of these walks. When appreciating the works closely, a great gestural force is observed in the details where the stroke and the movement of the body with the pen is revealed, while when zooming out, it is synthesized in a photographic image.
Diego Beyró (1984). His training in the artistic field is mostly self-taught. He spent two years at the Fabrica art residence, artistic foundation of the Benetton family in Italy. He did an art clinic with Andrés Waissman and his work was exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Lebanon, Israel, United States, Mexico, Chile and Argentina.
