MABEL RUBLI'S SPATIAL ENGRAVINGS

The National Museum of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires inaugurated the exhibition Mabel Rubli. Spatial Engravings and Other Explorations, which brings together in the second floor hall a selection of more than 30 works that review the career of one of the most outstanding Argentinean engravers.

Curated by specialist Silvia Dolinko, this is the first individual exhibition that the Bellas Artes dedicates to Rubli (Buenos Aires, 1933), whose works will be on display in the exhibition, including pieces that were incorporated to the Museum's collection since the 1960s along with works from her personal collection, from that decade and later.

In addition, documents and one of the emblematic pieces of the series “Spatial Engravings”, from 1970, “Passage I ‘Lied Nocturna’”, donated by Rubli in 2024 to the Museum's collection, will also be on display.

“Mabel Rubli is one of the most outstanding figures of modern Argentine engraving, and a central figure in the revitalization of the discipline beginning in the 1960s,” indicates Andrés Duprat, director of the National Museum of Fine Arts. “Although the artist's production was represented in some exhibitions held at the Museum, this is the first time that a solo exhibition is dedicated to her, with the intention of celebrating Rubli's extensive career, an artist who sought to redefine the canons of traditional engraving through decidedly poetic images,” he adds.
