ANA NAVAS' GLASS CHARMS
Crisis Galería presents the solo exhibition Amuleto by artist Ana Navas. This marks her second solo show at the gallery. For the Peruvian artist, each "glass organism" emerges from the metabolization of her fascination with the connection between the pioneers of modern abstraction and spirituality.

In this exhibition, Ana delves into the possibilities of glass, using it both as a medium and as a material for artistic exploration. The technique employed, vitrofusión (glass fusing), involves a risky double high-temperature kiln process, where the final result is revealed only once the pieces cool. This collaboration with fire grants each work a unique identity, merging Navas' creative vision with the hybrid and sensual beauty born from the controlled melting of glass.
The works fuse "flashes" of artists such as Hilma af Klint, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Wassily Kandinsky, along with the diverse sources that inspired them, including symbolism, ethnography, and theosophy.

Ana Navas (Quito, 1984) is a visual artist whose work explores the intersection of abstraction, art history, and everyday culture. Through sculpture, video, painting, and performance, her practice engages with processes such as translation, assimilation, and appropriation. Ana considers her work as a pursuit of an object's genealogical traces. By experimenting with diverse materials and techniques, she creates pieces that invite reflection and constant reinterpretation.
Founded in 2017, Crisis Galería is a space dedicated to promoting contemporary art in Lima, with a strong commitment to showcasing artistic practices that engage with the region’s social, political, and cultural issues. The gallery works closely with artists whose works explore decolonial narratives, Indigenous perspectives, historical memory, and the limits of visual representation. Its exhibition program aims to foster a dynamic exchange between the local context and the international art circuit, encouraging new readings of artistic production in Latin America.
