SOL CALERO’S CASA ENCONTRADA, AT LORENA RUIZ DE VILLA

From 09/21/2024 to 10/10/2024
Barcelona, Spain

The gallery Lorena Ruiz de Villa hosts the exhibition Casa Encontrada, where the artist Sol Calero (Caracas, Venezuela, 1982) presents a new series of paintings that start from her previous work as a point of reference and in which she advocates the detachment of the most precise definition of her themes, with references to her origins. This proposal, however, leads us to a concept that walks on the line of the interrelation of the human and the natural, making his new production more fractionable.

Even with all this, the colorful environments and ad-hoc installations of the Venezuelan artist, in which the pictorial practice, vernacular architecture and cultural elements of Latin America meet, have a lot of substratum. It is worth mentioning that her recent immersive and participative installations are forged as small businesses associated with the Latin American imaginary and bringing the exotic closer to the everyday.

That is where this combination of materials and objects appears, whose arrangement and interrelation are also intended to keep open the debate on migration, displacement and identity, as well as to deepen the location of collective imaginaries as a primary source of connection.

Sol Calero. Casa Encontrada can be seen until October 10 at Lorena Ruiz de Villa, Camp d'en Vidal 16, local 2, Barcelona (Spain).
