2020 ÉTANT DONNÉS CONTEMPORARY ART GRANTEES
Étant donnés Contemporary Art is the only French-American fund for contemporary art. THE OPEN SOCIETY FOUNDATIONS ANNOUNCE THE 2020 SOROS ARTS FELLOWS
Now in its third year, the Fellowship honors ten artists and cultural producers working at the intersection of migration, public space, and the arts. From Brazil, Botswana, Jamaica, Nigeria, Palestine, St. Croix, Syria, Tlingít Aaní, the United States, and their respective diasporas, the fellows each receive an 80,000 USD stipend to realize an ambitious project over the next 18 months.

Pat Steir: Artist, directed by Mexico City-born novelist and filmmaker Veronica Gonzalez Peña about the life of artist Pat Steir, was released on digital platforms. It is distributed by Giant Pictures, a digital distributor for independent filmmakers.
CINCINNATI’S CONTEMPORARY ARTS CENTER PRESENTS SOUNDING LABOR, SILENT BODIES BY MEXICAN ARTIST TANIA CANDIANI
This solo exhibition highlights women as a corrective to dominant historical narratives that excluded their role as factory workers, and suggests parallels with current struggles against gender inequality. Available until January 17, 2021, itwas organized by guest curator Kate Bonansinga in collaboration with Amara Antilla, Senior Curator at Contemporary Arts Center.

MARGARITA PAKSA, PIONEER OF CONCEPTUAL ART IN ARGENTINA, DIED AT 88 YEARS OLD
Born in Buenos Aires in 1932, Paksa died on July 5, 2020. The artist dedicated much of her career to the intersection between art and technology that, in her own words, had become the pillars of her life. Throughout her career she ventured into different techniques such as sculpture, drawing, design, installations, painting, objects, digital art and video-art.

Latitude is an angle which ranges from 0° at the Equator to 90° at the poles. Lines of constant latitude, or parallels, run east–west as circles parallel to the equator and never touch. In Latitudes // Parallels, Juana Valdes utilizes the strategies of anthropological research to consider how the legacy of colonization is entrenched in institutions, hierarchies and, most importantly, objects.
