20 YEARS OF PINTA BAphoto – THE CELEBRATION OF A VISION
The most relevant art fair specialized in photography in Latin America Pinta BAphoto celebrates its twenty years of trajectory between October 24 and 27, 2024. Based in the city of Buenos Aires, it has established itself as an undisputed point of reference for photography.

Pinta BAphoto is the epicenter of photography in the region, providing a meeting place for artists, curators, specialized critics, collectors and an increasingly wider public. Since its origins, the Pinta BAphoto team has worked to promote the development of photography within the artistic field and to highlight its production at an international level. To celebrate two decades of promotion and dissemination, the fair will feature some activities and curatorial projects to commemorate the trajectory, and other proposals with a more forward-looking approach.
The NEXT | Fuera de Foco section, curated by Bárbara Golubicki and Joaquín Rodríguez, will have its tenth edition with an expansion of both space and participants. The notion of confluence is the curatorial trigger to explore photography as an experimental record of the world.
In addition, another characteristic section of the fair is the Artist Tribute, in charge of Francisco Medail since 2015. This is a program that recognizes the trajectory of photographers who had an active participation in the field of Argentine photography, with the aim of recovering and highlighting their figure. Among them were: George Friedman (2015), Juan Di Sandro (2016), Frans von Riel (2017), Pepe Fernández (2018), Pedro Otero (2019), Foto Estudio Luisita (2020), Lucrecia Plat (2021), Sara Facio (2022) and Boleslaw Senderowicz (2023). For this edition, Pinta BAphoto presents Jaime Bolotinsky, a Russian photographer who emigrated to Argentina, where he developed his body of work during the first half of the 20th century.
As a special new feature, this edition of Pinta BAphoto launches the RADAR section -present in other Pinta fairs-, which aims to highlight the production of contemporary artists from different languages and media. It will be curated by Sebastián Vidal Mackinson.
In addition to being a space for the purchase and sale of works, Pinta BAphoto has positioned itself as a place for reflection and innovation within the photographic field. Throughout its 20 years, the fair has been a witness and catalyst of the technological and aesthetic transformations that have impacted photography. This is reflected in sections such as Videoproject, curated by Irene Gelfman, which explores the convergence between photography and audiovisual media, and FORO, the series of conversations with artists, curators, collectors, gallery owners and museum directors from the local and international scene.
Throughout its two decades of existence, Pinta BAphoto has demonstrated a firm commitment to the promotion of Latin American artists and galleries internationally. Through its platform, the fair not only offers a space of visibility for emerging and established artists, but also facilitates strategic connections with curators, critics, and collectors. This comprehensive approach, which combines exhibition, networking and institutional support, has been key to consolidate Pinta BAphoto as an essential actor in the promotion of photography from the region at a global level.

The eighth edition of Video Project, curated by Irene Gelfman, invites us to immerse in the concept of territory through the moving image. In video art we find a sense of curiosity and exploration that challenges our ideas of materiality and expands to embrace the most intimate. In six selected works, the notion of territory addresses bodies, landscapes and symbols, questioning the stability of physical and conceptual limits. The territory becomes a fluctuating space, as critical as the viewer's place.
