MALBA PUERTOS: THE NEW VENUE IN ESCOBAR TO OPEN IN SEPTEMBER
The Malba museum in Buenos Aires, Argentina expands with the construction of Malba Puertos, a new exhibition space in Escobar, province of Buenos Aires. It opens on September 21 and seeks -through activities and exhibitions- to bring art closer to the community.
With the aim of bringing art closer to other communities, Malba opens a new space in Puertos, Consultatio's urban development in the town of Escobar, 45 km from the city of Buenos Aires.
Designed by the Herreros studio (Spain) -with local support from Torrado Arquitectos and Bulla in the landscaping- the 5,500 m2 project combines a succession of halls and public spaces, gardens and woods.
This new space aims to create a center of gravity in the artistic and cultural life of Zona Norte, province of Buenos Aires, in contact with nature and with Malba's expertise. Malba Puertos contemplates a multidisciplinary program under the care of the Museum's curatorial committee. It plans to develop different temporary exhibitions -focusing on Argentine contemporary art- as well as outdoor educational and cultural activities: music, cinema, literature, dance, theater and performances for all ages.
Its transparent architecture, without limits or hierarchy, without a fixed manual of use or circulation, will invite visitors to have an experience in which nature, art and learning meet. The project will allow a program of activities with an endless number of formats thanks to the flexibility of its spatial and constructive scheme.
Along with the announcement of the opening of Malba Puertos, the appointment of Eleonora Jaureguiberry, former Secretary of Culture and City of San Isidro, as General Coordinator of Malba Puertos was announced. As part of her role, she will foster the social bond within Puertos and its surroundings in the Northern Zone of the Province of Buenos Aires, promoting the rapprochement with the city's neighbors and creating alliances with civil society organizations and educational centers. Regarding the artistic proposal, Malba Puertos contemplates a multidisciplinary program that will be under the care of the Museum's curatorial committee, in dialogue with the coordinator of its headquarters. There will be different temporary exhibitions -focusing on Argentine contemporary art-, as well as outdoor educational and cultural activities: music, cinema, literature, dance, theater and performances, for all ages.
