ART OF THE ASIAN DIASPORA IN LATIN AMERICA & THE CARIBBEAN
The Appearance: Art of the Asian Diaspora in Latin America & the Caribbean is the first exhibition in New York City at Americas Society to center the artistic production of the Asian diaspora in the region from the 1940s to the present. Focusing on postwar and contemporary art, the exhibition showcases the work of thirty artists from fifteen countries working in a range of artistic mediums including painting, sculpture, performance, photography, and video, to shed light into strategies and themes that resonate across a wide array of Asian diasporic practice throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
ALEJANDRA SEEBER: INTERIOR WITH LANDSCAPES
Art at Americas Society is presenting Interior with Landscapes, the first solo exhibition and mid-career survey of the Argentine artist Alejandra Seeber in New York. Many of Seeber's paintings explore the tension between representation and abstraction.
MARTA MINUJÍN WILL RESTAGE HER ICONIC 1985 PHOTO-PERFORMANCE
Argentine artist Marta Minujín will restage her iconic 1985 photo-performance Payment of the Argentine Foreign Debt to Andy Warhol with Corn, the Latin American Corn, at Americas Society, in collaboration with Jewish Museum. The event is free and open to the public and will take place on March 26, 2024, 6pm at Americas Society. Registration required.
AMERICAS SOCIETY PRESENTS PART II OF EXHIBITION EL DORADO
Americas Society opened Part II of El Dorado: Myths of Gold, an exhibition showcasing artworks by more than 60 artists that challenge, reinforce and question the continuity of the myth of El Dorado into the present.
PINTA Sud ASU 2023 – A DIALOGUE WITH AIMÉ IGLESIAS LUKIN
Aimé Iglesias Lukin is an art historian and curator. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, she has been living in New York since 2011. She earned her PhD in art history from Rutgers University with a dissertation titled "This Must Be the Place: Latin American Artists in New York 1965–1975," which became an exhibition at Americas Society in 2021. Her writings have been featured at international conferences and published by prestigious museums and academic journals, including the New Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Guggenheim Museum.
AMERICAS SOCIETY PRESENTS SYLVIA PALACIOS WHITMAN’S FIRST SOLO EXHITION IN THE UNITED STATES
The exhibition showcases over 50 years of work of Chilean artist Silvia Palacios Whitman. Americas Society gathered from historic performances to recent drawings.
