The Museo de Arte Moderno in Bogota presents Jim Amaral: Etcétera, an exhibition dedicated to honour the extensive career of the eclectic artist, whose practice combines drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, assemblages and printmaking.

The Museum of Modern Art of Medellín (MAMM) exhibits María Teresa Hincapié. Si este fuera un principio de infinito (María Teresa Hincapié. If this were a principle of infinity), the first institutional exhibition dedicated to the practice of Colombian artist María Teresa Hincapié (Armenia, 1954 – Bogotá, 2008). A pioneer in Colombia and Latin America, Hincapié had a very particular definition of the performative discipline that she used to call “training” and which resisted any specific categorization; rather, it oscillated between life, creation in motion and the search for the sacred.

The Miguel Urrutia Art Museum of the Banco de la República presents the exhibition Veroír el fracaso iluminado (Seehearing the Enlightened Failure), a retrospective that brings together more than 100 works by the Chilean artist Cecilia Vicuña, whose work addresses issues such as the environment, feminism, human rights humans, decolonization and the relationship between art and politics. The exhibition, curated by Miguel López, one of the most outstanding curators on the current Latin American art scene, arrives in Colombia thanks to the collaboration between the Kunstinstituut Melly (Rotterdam) and the Banco de la República.

In this position within The Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country, Lozano will work closely with the Collection Department and the Museum's director.

TREMOR collects and revisits the reflections on painting, cinematographic noema and experimental video that Sandra Rengifo started in 2016 with the work Los Lirios del Campo y las Aves del Cielo. It is a kind of "synthetic Neo-romanticism" that gathers the premises of existentialism, the process of the everyday, the revisiting of the past and thinking about the present: carrying bodies, diseased bodies, caring bodies, bodies suffering from inclement weather.

The De Pont Museum in the Netherlands has acquired an assemble of works by González, seminal figure in Latin American art. The works address the themes of migration, disappearance and collective grief.

The EFG Latin America Art Award, now in its eleventh edition, was created to support the Latin American artists. From the Colombian ARTBO fair, the nominated artist is Federico Ovalles, and from the Brazilian fair SP-Arte, Gustavo Nazareno was nominated for his work “Guiné”.

Voluspa Jarpa’s Syndemic is the winner of the inaugural edition of the Julius Baer Art Prize for Latin American Female Artists, a new biennial award initiated by Julius Baer and The Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá – MAMBO. It is the first of its kind to be held in Latin America, and its mission is to honor the research of outstanding Latin American female artists. Syndemic is a site-specific multimedia project that involves photos, archival documents, videos, maps, sculptures, objects, installation, wallpapers, and lasers that project beyond the Museum’s physical space into the surrounding environment. The term “Syndemic”, from the medical field, is Voluspa Jarpa’s metaphor to analyze the violent social riots that occurred from October 2019 to March 2020 in Chile.

ARTIFACTS is a project curated by researchers Barbara Krulik (US/NL) and Mildred Durán (CO/FR) that revolves around the ubiquity of information and data, and our relationship with them in the contemporary world. It was the winner of the Santa Fe Gallery Network Grant 2021 - Continuous Programming.

This is the first mid-career survey of Colombian artist Oscar Muñoz’s work in the United States. Although he has had large-scale retrospectives throughout Europe and Latin America, this exhibition will introduce U.S. audiences to a broad scope of his evolving practice.

The Museum of Modern Art Bogota presents I dreamt the landscape was looking at me, by Jessica Mitrani in in collaboration with Alex Czetwertynski. It is optical device that invites the viewer on a hypnotic journey suspended between reality and fiction, personal and public, resulting in a spontaneous and non-linear narrative.

“It is inevitable to mention the history of painting when we refer to the work of Fernando Uhía, since it seems in the first instance to allude to the theories of color, the purism of the medium and the ruptures of the mimetic representation that occurred during the emergence of the artistic avant-gardes in the first decades of the 20th century. However, Special Defects departs from such assumptions and invites the viewer to an aesthetic experience of color through a unique treatment of paint. The above, from a global language that is expressed through the construction of shapes and colors, which today are not only present in fine arts but also in design and advertising. Overcoming the distances and obstacles created by the global crisis, Latin American art continues to stand strong. With a specially designed section -REMITENTE-, created in collaboration with Mariano Mayer, ARCO is witness of a strong latin protagonism.

In this exhibition, the Colombian artist presents ten works in different media: drawing, video, sculpture, and installation. These explore the idea of play, movement and activation of the exhibition space.
