The National Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid presents Towards an objectual painting, an exposition that establishes a dialogue between the work of the artist of Argentinean artist César Paternosto and a selection of works from the museum's collections.

Mexican gallery OMR presents in the Gallery Weekend the exhibition Compression Loss of Troika, a collaborative contemporary art practice formed in 2003 by Eva Rucki (b. 1976, Germany), Conny Freyer (b. 1976, Germany) and Sebastien Noel (b. 1977, France).

Fernando de Szyszlo (Peru, 1925–2017) has crossed over the threshold of mystery that his paintings so often suggested. Perhaps more than any other master of Latin American modern art, his work brought together the lessons of a lyrical abstraction that never eschewed earthly forms, on the one hand, and the heritage of pre-Hispanic architecture and of its mythical universe, on the other.

For my eighteenth posting ofthe Getty-led initiative exploring Latin American and Latino art in dialogue with Los Angeles, we will look at the Japanese American National Museum’s exhibition Transpacific Borderlands: The Art of Japanese Diaspora in Lima, Los Angeles, Mexico City, and São Paulo on view from September 17, 2017 through February 25, 2018. Y Gallery presents Raquel Rabinovich’s Thresholds, her second solo show at the gallery.. The exhibition will consist of new paintings and drawings created between 2014 and 2017. This event anticipates her forthcoming retrospective at El Museo del Barrio, that will open in 2019, the year Rabinovich turns 90.

Partidas Simultaneas presents the latest works by Estefanía Landesmann. The Santa Barbara Museum of Art (SBMA) announces Valeska Soares: Any Moment Now—a major, mid-career survey of work by artist, Valeska Soares. On view through December 31, 2017, the exhibition is part of the Getty’s initiative Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, a far-reaching and ambitious exploration of Latin American and Latino art in dialogue with Los Angeles.

With Zeitgeist, The French-Argentine artist intends to democratize art and at the same time to generate some kind of altruism.

Among many other artists, it is worth mentioning the presence of Christian Boltanski at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes; Pedro Cabrita Reis, Bernardí Roig and Marie Orensanz in the public space; Mariana Tellería, Iván Argote and Tatiana Trouvé at the MUNTREF Centro de Arte Contemporáneo; Shirley Paez Leme, Angelika Markul and Charly Nijensohn at the Centro Cultural Kirchner; and Vik Muniz and Guillermo Kuitca at the Brazilian Embassy. Several collections will be displayed, including those of the Contemporary Art Museum of Geneva and the Museo Reina Sofía of Spain.

Handmade, which is Muniz’s fifth solo show at the Galería Elba Benítez, forms part of the Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend 2017 organized by Arte_Madrid.

The official launch of the XIV edition of the Biennial of Cuenca: "Living Structures: Rituals without Myths in Contemporary Art" was held on Thursday, August 24 at the Bienal's headquarters (Bolívar 13-89 and Estévez de Toral) a thesis proposed by the Venezuelan curator Jesus Fuenmayor, who makes an exposition of his conceptual proposal. In the same way, the Venezuelan artist and professor Yucef Merhi was presented, which has a charge of the pedagogical curatorship of the next edition that will take place in November 2018.
