PINTA BAphoto - THE EXPRESSION OF A REGION'S PHOTOGRAPHY
Pinta BAphoto closed its 20th anniversary at La Rural, Buenos Aires, Argentina, after a weekend that brought together the best of photography in the region and was a meeting point for gallery owners, artists, curators, collectors and photography lovers. The fair attracted more than 14,000 visitors during its three days open to the public.

The fair featured more than 55 galleries from Argentina, as well as from Venezuela, Spain, Uruguay, the United States, Paraguay, Peru and Colombia. The curatorial team -composed by Irene Gelfman, Francisco Medail, Joaquín Rodríguez, Bárbara Golubicki and Sebastián Vidal Mackinson- presented the sections: NEXT | Out of Focus, RADAR, Artista Homenaje, Video Project and Special Project. Short, medium and long career artists exhibited works that cross photography with other languages such as drawing, collage, painting and video.
In addition, within the FORO program -a space for dialogue, meeting and reflection within the fair- there was a tribute to three great figures of Argentine art: artist and manager Luz Castillo together with artists Aldo Sessa and Pedro Roth.
The publishing section was also a highlight, with the presence of Ediciones Larrivière and La Paragráfica and, as a new feature, Photo Zine -coordinated by Agustina Larrondo and Daniel J. Ventura-, which brought together different independent publishing projects in the fields of photography and the visual arts.

Awards and acquisitions
On Friday, October 25 at 5 p.m., the IN SITU Award of the NEXT | Out of Focus Section was granted to artist Sandro Pereira of The White Lodge Gallery (Córdoba, Argentina) by jurors Abel Guaglainone and Cecilia Remiro Valcárcel.
The curatorial proposal of the NEXT | Fuera de Foco Section continues with the purpose of giving visibility to the photography of emerging artists and galleries from all over the country, where heterogeneity allows the universe of possibilities of the medium to be presented.
Besides, as part of a strategic alliance between Pinta BAphoto and the IN SITU award, a participation grant is awarded to a gallery or collective project, in which the beneficiary is invited to be part of the NEXT | Out of Focus Section with the coverage of all its costs. In this edition, the Consultorio gallery was selected.
The fair also had numerous sales and acquisitions such as the collector Jean Louis Larivière who acquired four works by the artist Julio Grinblatt from Ruth Benzacar gallery, a work by Alicia D'Amico from Vasari gallery and two works by the artist Jaime Bolotinsky. On the other hand, the Oxenford collection acquired works by artist Pompi Gutnisky at Tramo gallery.
The fair's catalog is now available.
