ONASSIS AIR: OPEN CALL FOR THE 2025/26 SEASON
Onassis AiR has officially launched its Open Call for the 2025/26 season, inviting artists and creative practitioners from diverse disciplines and backgrounds to participate in a dynamic and immersive research-based residency in Athens, Greece.
The program aims to foster artistic research and experimentation, providing dedicated space and time for professionals to explore their practice without the expectation of presenting a final work. The submission deadline is March 7, 2025, at 12:00 noon (UTC+2).
Over the past five years, Onassis AiR has supported more than 200 Fellows and received over 7,000 applications. The program continuously evolves to address contemporary issues and encourage dialogue across artistic fields, blending local insights with global perspectives.
For the 2025/26 season, Onassis AiR introduces new directions, embracing crafts and material-based practices. This initiative seeks to broaden its community by inviting creatives from fashion, design, and applied arts to engage in an environment that promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Onassis AiR offers four distinct residency strands, developed in collaboration with Onassis ONX, as well as the Dramaturgy, Production, and Technical departments of Onassis Stegi. These strands cater to a wide range of creative disciplines and research interests:
1. Onassis AiR Extended Research Residencies
A three-month artistic residency dedicated to artists, curators, artisans, filmmakers, writers, and other creative practitioners. This program supports research and development, offering time, space, and collaborative facilities to refine in-progress work. Participants will have access to resources that allow for experimentation with materials, scale, and collaborative processes.
2. Onassis AiR Dramaturgy Fellowships
Introduced in the 2024/25 season, the Dramaturgy Fellowships return to support research and development in performance-based work. Open to directors, choreographers, playwrights, and other theatre and dance professionals based in Greece, this program encourages the creation of new performance projects that have not yet been presented.
3. Onassis AiR/ONX Fellowships
In collaboration with Onassis ONX, this strand focuses on digital and immersive art. The program invites proposals that integrate Mixed Realities, computational art, and performative elements, fostering sustainable and innovative artistic practices. Eligible projects may include digital performances, kinetic installations, and interactive stage designs.
4. Onassis AiR Technical Residencies
A new addition to Onassis AiR, this residency supports professionals working behind the scenes in technical roles, including stage management, lighting, sound design, and advanced production technologies. Participants will refine their skills through hands-on collaboration with the technical and production teams of Onassis Stegi and Onassis ONX.
