FAARA 2025 RESIDENCY: THE SIX SELECTED ARTISTS

FAARA is dedicated to creating a dynamic space for research, production, and the development of innovative artistic proposals, continuing the Foundation’s mission of supporting contemporary art across the Americas. After a rigorous process, six artists from diverse corners of the Americas have been selected: Tanya Aguiñiga (United States/Mexico), Ernesto Bautista (El Salvador), Sofía Durrieu (Argentina), Voluspa Jarpa (Chile), Guzmán Paz (Uruguay) and Adán Vallecillo (Honduras).

The Selection Committee included: Carla Acevedo-Yates (Curator, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago), Chus Martínez (Director of the Institute for Artistic Gender and Nature, FHNW, Switzerland), and Eugenio Viola (Artistic Director, Museo de Arte Moderno, Bogotá).

“Our selection is guided by the need to make visible the multiplicity of languages, visions and experiences of artists belonging to the Americas and its diasporas. We have considered that the trajectories of the artists complement each other and contribute to create the idea of a community deeply linked not only to research, but also to the ethical and political commitment to make their voices heard and establish their presence as fundamental to the development of the history of artistic practice in the Americas”, stated the selection committee.

FAARA is designed so that artists from Central and South America, the Caribbean, and the Latin American diaspora can delve into their different practices in a natural environment that provides support and concentration. Intended to stimulate research, it’s a program that the Foundation helps to personalize for each visiting artist. FAARA connects residents with cultural workers and people of interest, and provides time and space for research, production, and the development of new artistic outlets.

Fundación Ama Amoedo is a non-profit organization with the mission of creating a lasting impact on the Latin American contemporary art ecosystem. Concentrated on extending the recognition and social value of artistic work, Fundación Ama Amoedo promotes diverse perspectives and outlets by offering artists and cultural workers different initiatives to support their practices, such as grants, programs, and the FAARA Residency.
