COLLECTIVE WEAVINGS AT ZIELINSKY BARCELONA

From 11/28/2024 to 02/14/2025
Barcelona, Spain

The Spanish gallery presents a group exhibition exploring the act of weaving as a practice that connects stories, heritages, and generations. Soltaré cien conejos y usted verá cómo le hace para juntarlos todos (I will release a hundred rabbits and you will see how you manage to collect them all) reflects on the intersections between the artisanal and the contemporary, addressing themes such as cultural identity, territorial dispossession, and collective memory.

COLLECTIVE WEAVINGS AT ZIELINSKY BARCELONA

The title, inspired by a Nahuatl fable, symbolizes the richness of pre-Hispanic traditions and weaving as a language that transcends the material. The featured works combine traditional elements with modern techniques, highlighting the value of collaborative work and the transmission of knowledge.

Artists Felipe Mujica, Sandra Monterroso, Carolina Cordeiro, Shirley Paes Leme, Ricardo Alcaide, Yamandú Canosa, and Vera Chaves Barcellos are part of the exhibition.

The show includes textiles, paintings, installations, and public works that engage in dialogue about territory, belonging, and resistance. The use of natural fibers, organic dyes, and other sustainable materials emphasizes the importance of revaluing ancestral techniques in a world dominated by industrial production. This contrast underscores the communal dimension of manual processes versus the logic of the global market.

The exhibition aims to create an immersive experience, weaving a collective landscape that invites the viewer to reflect actively. Geometric forms, organic textures, and territorial references offer a narrative that transcends borders and hierarchies.
