A REFLECTION ON THE FUTURE AT TENSTA KONSTHALL

Tensta konsthall has opened its doors to Imagine an After, a collective exhibition bringing together prominent international artists to explore how to envision a future in the aftermath of conflicts, displacement, and loss. In a world shaped by constant change and challenges, the exhibition invites reflection on the transformations that can emerge in moments of crisis and crossroads.

Curated by Paulina Sokolow and Cecilia Widenheim, Imagine an After poses essential questions: What can an “after” hold? How can moments of rupture give rise to new paths? The exhibition gathers artists working in video, installation, painting, collage, and architecture, offering a space to connect what has been left behind with what is yet to come.

Participating artists include Asli Abdulrahman Ali, Carlos Capelán, Andjeas Ejiksson and Joanna Zawieja, Goldin+Senneby, Susanna Marcus Jablonski, Eric Magassa, Jumana Manna, Walid Raad, and Carla Zaccagnini. Each artist contributes a unique perspective to imagine possible futures, bridging memory and the present with what does not yet exist. Among the works featured, several stand out for their exploration of history, identity, and transformation.

In addition to the exhibited works, Imagine an After is complemented by a program of talks and lectures in collaboration with institutions such as Stockholms Arkitekter, Arkitekter utan gränser, and ArkDes. This interdisciplinary approach aims to enrich the conversation about the forces shaping our lives during transitional times. Anthropologist Shahram Khosravi will also contribute an essay written specifically for the occasion, delving into the cultural and social dynamics reflected in the exhibition.

Imagine an After will be on view until April 21, 2025, at Tensta konsthall, Taxingegränd 10, Tensta (Sweden).
