MoMA’S COLLECTION GALLERY EXHIBITS MARTA MINUJÍN’S “MINUCODE”

With the curatorship of Félix Suazo, Pinta Miami 2021 becomes a scenario for immersive and thought provoking installations. The aim of Pinta’s section Special Projects is to accentuate the individuality and artistry of contemporary artists who, through their works and installations, bring to life the concerns and possibilities of the near future.

The exhibition with selected works from the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation Collection (CIFO) reflects on both the multidisciplinary practices of Latin American contemporary art and on its diversity as a conceptual frame that is inclusive of a carried universe of voices. It comprises 31 established, mid-career, and emerging artists from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela, and features works of art in multiple media, including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, video, as well as large-scale multimedia installations. Having debuted at the Cuenca Biennial in 2018, this is the first time this exhibition is presented at an arts institution in the United States.

The project, curated by Imma Prieto, structures and defines the Collection from a line of research focused on the human body, understood as a reflection of socio-political situations in different contexts. In addition, it brings us closer to the construction of identity from the relationship between body, subject and image. The exhibition can be visited in Space C of the Museum until November 13, 2022.

Celebrating the occasion of her 90th birthday, the exhibition will be on display until February 13, 2022. The aim is to celebrate the life and work of Cuban-born, Miami-based artist Margarita Cano.

Presenting more than one hundred works—from iconic paintings such as The Last Supper to archival materials, drawings, prints, film, and rarely seen and newly discovered items—Andy Warhol: Revelation brings a fresh perspective to the canonical artist, exploring his career-long engagement with Catholic themes, as well as the tension between Warhol’s spiritual upbringing and his life as an out gay man.

First gaining attention in the 1960s with his exuberant portraits and landscapes, David Hockney (UK, b. 1937) remains one of the most celebrated British artists of his generation. He is also a key contributor to the development of art in Los Angeles, one of his adopted homes. Drawing upon the Walker’s deep holdings of Hockney’s work, this exhibition presents a broad selection of the artist’s prints, paintings, drawings, and recent digital works.

This is the first solo exhibition in the United States dedicated to Geles Cabrera, who is one of the most prominent female sculptors of her country. Geles Cabrera: Museo Escultórico will feature artwork created over 40 years of her career and will be on view from June 8 through July 30, 2022.
