VIVIAN SUTER AND THE RELEVANCE OF SURROUNDINGS AT MAAT IN LISBON
Lisbon's MAAT hosts the exhibition Disco, a show with more than half a thousand works by Vivian Suter (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1949) with which the institution pays tribute to the pictorial production of the Swiss-Argentine artist and her particular exploration of the interaction with nature and the different techniques and possibilities applicable to painting.

PINTA BAphoto - THE EXPRESSION OF A REGION'S PHOTOGRAPHY
Pinta BAphoto closed its 20th anniversary at La Rural, Buenos Aires, Argentina, after a weekend that brought together the best of photography in the region and was a meeting point for gallery owners, artists, curators, collectors and photography lovers. The fair attracted more than 14,000 visitors during its three days open to the public.
FERNANDO ALLEN AND CONFINES OF PARAGUAY IN PINTA BAphoto 2024
Confines of Paraguay is the initiative of Fernando Allen and Fredi Casco that is part of the Main Section of Pinta BAphoto. It is a project that began with a photographic approach, but expanded into an editorial, audiovisual and documentary archive -along with other activities- related to the works of popular and indigenous artists from Paraguay.

The Tribute Artist section of Pinta BAphoto celebrates a decade exhibiting the trajectory of photographers who had an active participation in the field, seeking to recover and value their figure. This edition, curator Francisco Medail presents Jaime Bolotinsky, a Russian-born photographer based in Buenos Aires who was a pioneer when it came to composing his portraits, using everyday elements and a precise handling of light.

REPETITION AND TRANSFORMATION - SPECIAL PROJECT AT PINTA BAphoto
Cecilia Lenardón's Special Project at Pinta BAphoto, curated by Irene Gelfman, presents an installation that pushes the representation of the body through photography to the limit, transforming the static image into a living and performative experience. Entitled Cuatro piezas clave (Four Key Pieces), the work invites us to reflect on the body's boundaries and its capacity to tolerate effort and repetition.
SAPUCAY MARICA: INTERVIEW WITH LORENZO GONZÁLEZ BALTAZAR
Lorenzo González Baltazar will be part of the NEXT | Out of Focus section with Primor Gallery, in the 20th edition of Pinta BAphoto. He presents his project Sapucay Marica, with photographs that capture the coexistence of the rural and the queer, performance and tradition, the intimate and the collective.
WITNESSES OF AN EXTENDING TERRITORY - VIDEO PROJECT AT PINTA BAphoto
The eighth edition of Video Project, curated by Irene Gelfman, invites us to immerse in the concept of territory through the moving image. In video art we find a sense of curiosity and exploration that challenges our ideas of materiality and expands to embrace the most intimate. In six selected works, the notion of territory addresses bodies, landscapes and symbols, questioning the stability of physical and conceptual limits. The territory becomes a fluctuating space, as critical as the viewer's place.
SEBASTIÁN VIDAL MACKINSON: “CURATORSHIP IS A PROCESS OF SENSITIVITY AND COLLECTIVE INTELLIGENCE”
Pinta BAphoto –the most important photography fair in the region– presents as a new feature the RADAR section, curated by Sebastián Vidal Mackinson. In an interview with Arte al Día, Sebastián reflects on the diversity of approaches in photography today and its growth as a medium capable of dialoguing with other forms of artistic expression.
GUILLERMO KUITCA: A CUBIST CHAPELL IN THE MUSÉE NATIONAL PICASSO-PARIS
The Argentine artist Guillermo Kuitca was commissioned to create a site-specific work in the chapel of the Hôtel Salé, home of the Musée national Picasso-Paris. The final commission, whose canvas is the walls of the chapel, can now be visited.
WEIGHTLESS: LEANDRO ERLICH’S DEBUT IN GERMANY
The famous Argentinean artist Leandro Erlich (b. 1973) transforms Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg’s exhibition hall into a fantastically surreal cosmos, playing with the notions of perspective and gravity. His installations seem to suspend the laws of physics, opening up new perspectives on the multiple connections between science, technology, space travel, and migration. Weightless, the artist's first solo exhibition in Germany, was conceived specifically for the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, as were most of the works on view.
THE EUROPEAN TOUR OF 'LA MENESUNDA' ACCORDING TO MARTA MINUJÍN
The Museo Moderno announced that La Menesunda, the legendary work by Marta Minujín and Rubén Santantonín –a work originally created in 1965, reconstructed by the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires and inaugurated in 2015 and later in 2019 at the New Museum in New York– is on view for the first time in Europe as part of a tour that will show it in four countries.
MABEL RUBLI'S SPATIAL ENGRAVINGS
The National Museum of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires inaugurated the exhibition Mabel Rubli. Spatial Engravings and Other Explorations, which brings together in the second floor hall a selection of more than 30 works that review the career of one of the most outstanding Argentinean engravers.
PINTA BAphoto 2024: NEW RADAR SECTION
This year, Pinta BAphoto will hold its twentieth edition with new curatorial proposals to continue celebrating photography in Latin America. Based in Buenos Aires, the fair presents the new RADAR section, curated by Sebastián Vidal Mackinson.

MERCEDES AZPILICUETA AND HER “DANCING TABLES” IN C3A
Mercedes Azpilicueta (La Plata, Argentina, 1981) lands with her dancing tables at the Centro de Creación Contemporánea de Andalucía (C3A) in an exhibition curated by Verónica Rossi and Jimena Blázquez. A visual and performance artist based in Amsterdam, her artistic practice proposes in her multi-layered works a meeting place between the past and the present through her protagonists and their expressions, some physical -but not corporeal-, such as voices; others, material, such as forms and texts; and others of a more intangible nature such as memory and remembrance.
CELINA ECEIZA: BODIES IN TRANSFORMATION
The Museo Moderno de Buenos Aires inaugurated Celina Eceiza: Ofrenda, the artist's first solo museum exhibition. It is an immersive project that was produced by the museum in its entirety. The exhibition is curated by Jimena Ferreiro.
THE PRE-COLUMBIAN ROOTS IN THE CONTEMPORARY, AT CASA DE AMERICA
Casa de América is hosting three interconnected exhibitions in Madrid until November 30 that investigate and show the influence of the arts and the roots of pre-Columbian cultures in contemporary art and architecture.
LA CHOLA POBLETE IN MILÁN – THE EXHIBITION “GUAYMALLÉN” ARRIVES AT MUDEC
MUDEC in Milan presented the exhibition Guaymallén, by Argentinian artist La Chola Poblete, winner in 2023 of the prestigious international “Artist of the Year” award dedicated by the Deutsche Bank to contemporary art, and who was recently celebrated with a special mention for her contribution to the 60th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale. The exhibition is curated by Britta Färber, Global Head of Art & Culture at the Bank.
MARTA MINUJIN’S FIRST RETROSPECTIVE EXHIBITION IN EUROPE
Intensity Life is Marta Minujín’s first retrospective exhibition in Europe, to be held at the Copenhagen Contemporary Museum.
NEXT | OUT OF FOCUS – TEN YEARS OF EMERGENT PHOTOGRAPHY
As part of the 20th anniversary of BAphoto, the art fair dedicated exclusively to photography in Buenos Aires, the NEXT | Out of Focus section celebrates its tenth edition in 2024. Since its creation, this section has been a key space to promote the visibility of emerging galleries and artists, functioning as a platform that connects Argentine photography with the international scene. Throughout these ten years, NEXT | Out of Focus has played a fundamental role in positioning emerging galleries and generating links with larger art circuits, contributing to BAphoto and Pinta's goal of promoting Latin American art in the world.
TRANSITORY BOUNDARIES: THE LIMITS OF SPACE, OBJECTS AND IDENTITY.
As part of Open House Festival, an event that celebrates architecture, history and culture, four Argentine artists - Martín Cordiano, Sara Sahores, Ignacio Unrrein and Mariela Vita - intervened the space of the Argentine Ambassador's Residence in London, addressing themes such as transition, domesticity and barriers. Curated by Federika Chaimowicz, Carolina Orlando, Mora Pranteda and Pilar Seivane.
INTERGALACTIC: GYULA KOSICE AT MALBA
In the centennial year of the birth of visionary Argentine artist Gyula Kosice (b. Ferdinand Fallik; Košice, Czechoslovakia, 1924 - Buenos Aires, 2016), Malba presents a monographic exhibition dedicated to his work, with the purpose of highlighting his pioneering role and repositioning him in the international context of postwar art.
THE UNFINISHED STORIES OF LILIANA PORTER
Liliana Porter (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1941) has a long history shared with Espacio Minimo. The Madrid gallery pampers every move and celebrates the extensive relationship with the Argentinean artist, always offering her the possibility of receiving her work and witnessing its evolution. For the opening of the space's season, the landing is called Otros cuentos inconclusos, a new proposal that deals with representation and two dimensional axes —space and time— that bear witness to many of the questions raised about human relations.

FRANCIS ALŸS: TWO DECADES AFTER HIS PROJECT
PROA21 presented the exhibition of interdisciplinary artist Francis Alÿs, curated by Cuauhtémoc Medina, on the emblematic project When Faith Moves Mountains, created in April 2002 for the III Ibero-American Biennial of Lima.
LEILA TSCHOPP: ARTEBA'S NOMINEE FOR THE EFG LATIN AMERICA ART AWARD
The EFG Latin America Art Award, in partnership with ArtNexus, announced Leila Tschopp of Buenos Aires, Argentina, as arteba's nominated artist for its annual acquisition award. The winning artist will be featured at Pinta Miami 2024.
